# Create Letter Templates and Fix Print Layout

Build reusable letters with reviewed merge fields, inspect stationery and page geometry, and recover from page-count or appearance problems.

## Create or edit a letter template

Open a client record and choose the print composer, or open an existing template from **Print**. Select **Letters** in **Template**, then open the intended master or create a new one when your role permits it.

Set a clear name and intended use. Add approved body copy and supported merge fields. Keep case-specific private details out of the reusable master.

## Review layout and stationery

Check paper size, margins, content width, letterhead, address window, date, body, closing, footer, and any fixed stationery elements shown by the editor. Use a synthetic sample record with long but realistic values.

Confirm that merge fields resolve, the address fits, the body begins in the intended position, and the closing remains together. Save the template, reopen it, and confirm the preview has not changed.

## Fix unexpected page count

When a letter gains a page, inspect long merge values, blank lines, large spacing, margins, and content that crosses a page boundary. Correct the smallest cause and regenerate the preview.

Do not shrink text until the content is unreadable. If fixed stationery constrains the layout, keep those locked elements unchanged and revise the editable body.

## Verify appearance and durability

Review the preview in both available color appearances, but judge the printed page itself as paper output. Reload or reopen the composer and confirm the page count, content, and layout remain the same.

Open the prepared file before printing. Confirm every page, then print or download. A successful preview does not prove the physical output.

## Stop conditions

Stop if the master template, merge field, sample record, stationery ownership, page count, locked area, or final prepared file is uncertain.
