# Use TeamChat

Choose the right audience, send clear messages, follow threads, find prior work, and manage notifications.

## Choose the audience

Open **TeamChat** and confirm the workspace and conversation. Use a channel for the intended team audience and a direct conversation only when the participants are correct.

## Send a message

Review the conversation context, write a clear message, and verify mentions, links, and attachments before sending. Do not assume that a message assigns a task unless the workflow clearly records ownership and a due time.

## Follow a thread

Reply in the existing thread when the topic continues. This keeps decisions and follow-up with their original context.

## Find prior work

Use search and unread indicators to locate a conversation. Confirm the date, participants, and thread before relying on an older message.

## Manage attention

Adjust notifications for channels and mentions without hiding work that still requires action. Reopen notification settings to verify the saved choice.

## Share safely

Confirm that every participant is permitted to see the message and attachments. Use purpose-built private records for information that should not live in a broad team conversation.
